AAT Level 1 Bookkeeping Fundamentals

You will develop an understanding of the importance of accurate financial information for businesses and the role the bookkeeper plays in achieving this. You will learn about the key tasks undertaken by the bookkeeper and how these support the management of the business.


You will gain a basic understanding of the double entry bookkeeping system, including how to identify, classify and check a range of business transactions. You will learn about the role that software can have in bookkeeping, the different types of software available and the benefits and risks of using these.


Finally, you will develop an understanding of the importance of ethical behaviour and the importance of data security.

AAT Level 1 Business Skills

You will develop skills for the workplace, understand how organisations operate, and learn how sales and purchases support businesses. You will apply business procedures to sales and purchases.

You will perform simple business calculations, calculate decimals, fractions, percentages, proportions and ratios and in addition, you will use tools and techniques to present numerical data.
